Rogue is a graphic novel concept I came up with in the summer of 2021. It’s a story about friendship, misunderstanding and courage. Rogue started out as a small gift to a friend who was moving up to New York. It has now become a larger, ongoing project and was my senior exhibit at Ouachita Baptist University.
It began with one character - a girl in a leather jacket; but as I was creating the illustrations a story began forming in my mind. I began putting other people from my life in the story. This exhibit only shows a sneak peek of these fictional characters stories - but to me it’s a reminder of all the people in my life who have impacted me.
In the fall of my senior year, I took an illustration class and the final project was to create the first couple pages in a graphic novel. Above shows the process of how I began this project and started to formulate the idea for Rogue - first with sketch, then with rendering and finally with the final, below.
Above was the original idea for the first page of Rogue.
